TRACK: SHELTERING FOR CHANGE
SPEAKER: Dr. Steven G. Rogelberg, University of North Carolina at Charlotte
This interactive session will share learnings from the largest collection of shelter employee data ever collected, from 100 shelters and more than 2000 employees. After exploring common shelter strengths and problem areas in an evidence-based manner, we will move to a discussion of solutions and best practices for addressing key challenges typically raised by employees, such as communication and cross-departmental teamwork. Attendees will also be introduced to a new free tool, the People Practices Self-Check.

3. Benchmark with peers at the session to identify compelling solutions
Dr. Steven G. Rogelberg holds the title of Chancellor’s Professor at UNC Charlotte for distinguished national, international and interdisciplinary contributions. He has more than 100 publications and has been invited to do more than 100 speeches/colloquiums addressing issues such as team effectiveness, leadership, engagement, health and employee well-being, meetings at work and organizational research methods. Awards and honours include being the inaugural winner of the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) Humanitarian Award, receiving the SIOP Distinguished Service Award, Bowling Green State University Master Teacher Award and Psi Chi Professor of the Year Award. He founded and currently directs two large outreach initiatives focusing on non-profit organizational health and effectiveness. Nearly 200 non-profits have been served. His research has been profiled on public television, radio (including NPR, CBC, CBS), newspapers (including Chicago Tribune, LA Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, London Guardian) and magazines (including National Geographic, Scientific American Mind).
